At the University of Michigan Medical School, there are a number of ways to volunteer and share your time by supporting current students, managing alumni activities, promoting Reunion, and more.

Opportunities

Each year medical students preparing for the next stage of their training travel the country for exciting — and sometimes stressful — residency interviews. You can help them in this stage of their journey by volunteering to host a student visiting your area. You will truly make an impact on a student as they prepare for life beyond medical school. In turn, you’ll have the opportunity to hear firsthand about the current medical student experience at U-M.

For more information, please contact Miriam Rubio at [email protected] or 734-763-6353.

The annual White Coat Ceremony is the symbolic beginning of the journey of medical students. Donations help welcome students warmly by providing their white coats and other encouragements throughout the year.

Make a Gift

Are you interested in strengthening your ties to the U-M? Consider becoming a class agent! These volunteer positions provide a unique opportunity to continue — and deepen — your Michigan experience. Class agents represent the graduates of their class and share the collective responsibility of keeping classmates connected, informed and engaged.

Medical School class agents:

  • Are points of contact for major events like Reunion
  • Are leaders for class fundraising efforts
  • Make tremendous impact on the Medical School and its alumni community

Does this sound like the perfect fit for you? Sign up to be a class agent today!

You can make a difference in the lives of U-M Medical School students, faculty, and alumni no matter where you live. Host an alumni event in your community, help welcome the incoming class of students to Ann Arbor, or offer someone a friendly phone call or virtual meetup to make them feel at home.

There are many in-person and virtual opportunities to become a Michigan ambassador and help to create and sustain a bond between past, present, and future members of the U-M Medical School family.

Career chats and student dinners are an opportunity for alumni to share their professional knowledge and background about their specialties with U-M medical students.

Our students find these connections particularly useful as they take the next step in their careers. Many alumni also find the experience rewarding and return to talk to different groups of students year after year.

Our team can help you to coordinate a gathering in Ann Arbor or set up a virtual meeting. For more information, please contact Miriam Rubio at [email protected] or 734-763-6353.
